A comprehensive product lineup offers highly integrated, feature-rich, and lower-power products developed specifically for battery-powered, noise-sensitive, and space-constrained designs.

ON Semiconductor continues to make a wide range of portable and consumer electronics products more power efficient with an expanded lineup of highly integrated, feature-rich, low-power solutions for portable and consumer electronics.

ON Semiconductor's new products for portable and consumer applications were introduced at Electronica 2012.

ON Semiconductor introduced two new single-channel power MOSFETs at electronica show. The new MCH3383 P-channel MOSFET offers 12 volts (V) drain-to-source voltage (VDSS), 3.5 amps (A) drain current (ID), and 69 milliohms ((mΩ)) on-resistance (RDS). The MCH3484 N-channel MOSFET offers a VDSS of 20 V, an ID of 4.5 A, and an RDS(ON) of 330 mΩ. These devices are ideal for use in digital recorders (IC recorders) and smartphones.

The NCP4545, NCP45520/21, and NCP45524/25 eco switch families for energy-efficient power domain switching are new additions to the extremely compact, advanced load management solutions being introduced at the show. These devices include soft-start functionality with adjustable skew control combined with control and drive functions, integrated low ON-resistance power MOSFETs, and charge pumps. They are suitable for notebook/tablet PCs, portable media devices, enterprise computing systems, hot-swappable devices, peripheral ports, telecom and industrial equipment, and various portable devices.

In addition, the NCP333, NCP334, NCP335, NCP336, and NCP337 are newly introduced cost-effective, high-performance load switches electrical components. These MOSFET-based devices have an input voltage range of 1.2 V to 5.5 V, and all have built-in output discharge channels to eliminate residual voltage on the input voltage rails. They are optimized for applications such as cell phones, notebooks/tablets, and digital cameras.

ON Semiconductor also introduced the NCP702, NCP703, and NCP729 low dropout voltage (LDO) linear regulators, which offer ultra-low quiescent current and built-in thermal shutdown mechanisms over the input voltage range of 2.0 V to 5.5 V. The excellent performance characteristics of these devices make them ideal for noise-sensitive applications where signal integrity must be maintained, such as phase-locked loops (PLLs), oscillators, frequency synthesizers, and low-noise amplifiers. End products for which they have proven to be extremely suitable include smartphones, digital cameras, tablets, portable DVD/media players, wireless headsets, WiFi boards, and portable GPS systems, as well as portable medical devices.
