Spansion

Spansion was a semiconductor manufacturing company known for its flash memory products, primarily NOR flash memory. It was formed as a joint venture between Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) and Fujitsu in 2003. Spansion specialized in providing flash memory solutions for various applications such as automotive, industrial, consumer electronics, and telecommunications.

The company focused on producing NOR flash memory, a type of non-volatile memory used in devices where code execution, booting, and firmware storage are crucial. NOR flash memory was commonly found in embedded systems, microcontrollers, and various electronic devices requiring fast read speeds.

Spansion's flash memory products were used in a wide range of applications, including automotive infotainment systems, networking equipment, smartphones, and more. In 2015, Cypress Semiconductor acquired Spansion, integrating its product portfolio and technologies into Cypress's offerings to provide a broader range of solutions in the semiconductor market.
